Many planes had no nicknames or faces - or bodies. Although the artists tried to make it unique, one of a kind, there were often several “Lonesome Gals” taking to the air over Europe, the Pacific and China/Burma/India. ![]() Nose art made a statement, usually about the pilot or the entire crew.
